About

Hi, I’m Mager.

I'm a software engineer in Chicago. I work on the AI team at Uber, focusing on skills and efficiency. I build AI agents, developer tools, and weird internet products, then write about what actually worked, what broke, and what I learned along the way.

Tech

Most of what I care about right now sits around agents, context, and software that feels alive. My Mac mini is my default, always-on box for agent workflows. I’m interested in the practical layer, not just the demo layer: harnesses, memory, evals, workflows, and how you make AI actually useful inside a real product stack.

Life

Outside of code, I post the occasional travel note, family story, or thing I want to remember. I’ve been getting back to trying new products early and bringing readers along — something familiar from writing The Web Life at ZDNET.

Cooking

I cook constantly. Soups, braises, rice, pasta, whatever I’m iterating on that week. Cooking and software scratch the same itch for me, small decisions compounding into something better when you pay attention.
